Our annual year-end letter from NCEF CEO Omprakash Gnawali containing all the highlights, hard work and accomplishments of 2014

December 12, 2014
Dear friends:
It is our pleasure to share with you the highlights of our work from 2014.
We are now providing financial assistance and regular visits to 79 students in seven locations throughout Nepal. Five of these locations are outside Kathmandu. Thus our work stays true to our commitment to help students in every part of Nepal, especially those far away from the capital city, complete their high school education.
Fifty-one percent of our students are girls and three of our students are differently abled. As such, we are adhering to our goal of helping children who are at a social and economic disadvantage.
This summer, I personally got a chance to visit our area coordinators, volunteers, and students in the Kathmandu area and in Chitwan. It was inspiring to see firsthand the excellent work done by our volunteers and the dedication of our students. One of the highlights of the trip was a meeting with Sarita Gopali, whose education was partly funded by NCEF. After graduating, she volunteered with us before taking a break to raise her child. She now plans to come back to NCEF as a volunteer to help other children in need. We published a story about Sarita’s remarkable journey and plans in our September newsletter, which can be accessed here:

In Chitwan, I spoke with six students from a rural area, three of them girls. Their village has one dirt road and the families there live on subsistence farming. Their favorite classes? Math and Science. I was glad that NCEF is supporting these students from remote corners of Nepal who now have the chance to become leading scientists and engineers some day. Every contribution made to NCEF for the education of these children—even the smallest amount—can have a lifelong impact on the students, their families, and their communities.
This holiday season, please consider sending the gift of education to these children in Nepal. You can donate online at http://www.nepalchildren.org/donation.html or send a check to:
Nepalese Children’s Education Fund
PO Box 380061

NCEF has no salaries or office expenses, so each child benefits directly from your donation.
Wishing you a good holiday season,
Omprakash Gnawali

From everyone here at NCEF we would like to wish all our donors, volunteers, students, and executives the happiest of holidays this season. It has been our great pleasure to share with you the successes and developments of 2014 with regards to all the hard work done by the NCEF community. Throughout the year, these newsletters have shared exactly the kind of wonderful opportunities made available to our students and their communities. Without the generosity of donors such as yourselves, this amazing work would not be possible.
On behalf of our students and the entire NCEF family, we wish you very happy holidays and a wonderful New Year. Thank you for all that you do!
