The NCEF board had a conference call on July 27, 2011 with the following members in attendance: President Steven Lustig, Funding Chief Aadit Sitaula, and board members Om Gnawali and Gyami Shrestha. Many important issues were discussed during the meeting. Some of the key highlights are presented below:
- The board is in the process of selecting an accounting agency to help the CE with the audit process for 2011. This project is set to be completed in the next 5-6 weeks
- The goals and roles for the board, secretary/clerk, and treasurer were discussed and approved
- A discretionary budget of $50 per executive officer and $500 for the executive committee was approved. Proposal to allow $50 for Board members was deferred
The board continues to take a systematic approach to improve the organization, seek ways to make best use of donors' valuable contributions, and to see how best to assist our children in their education. The board is working on coming up with detailed plan on how these goals can be achieved. The following areas are being looked at in closer detail for improvement:
- Improve NCEF structure/involvement outside Nepal
- Improve operation in Nepal
- Determine and Implement financial strategy
- Enhance our fundraising and publicity efforts in a structured and long-lasting way
